Local Law 32

Dear Valued Customers,

Ref: Cessation of Number 4 Fuel Oil in 2027

We are writing to inform you about Local Law 32 of 2023, which was recently enacted by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The law has implications for the renewal of Certificates of Operation (CO) and Registrations for boilers that burn fuel oil grade no. 4.

Effective June 30, 2024, the DEP will no longer issue triennial renewals for COs or Registrations for boilers that burn fuel oil grade no. 4. Furthermore, as of July 1, 2027, no boilers will be permitted to burn no. 4 fuel oil. This will require all affected properties to switch to alternative fuel sources.

As a leading provider of fuel oil and mechanical services, East Coast Petroleum & East Coast Mechanical recommend an immediate switch to biofuels. Biofuels are a renewable and sustainable alternative to traditional fuel oil that can significantly reduce your carbon emissions. Additionally, there are tax rebate incentives available to businesses who make the switch.

Our team of experts can provide you with technical expertise on boiler upgrades and conversions to help ensure a smooth transition. We understand that this change may have an impact on your business operations, and we want to assist you in any way possible to ensure that the process is as seamless as possible.

At East Coast Petroleum & East Coast Mechanical, we are committed to helping our customers meet their energy needs while also protecting the environment. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to allow us to bring your oil-fired boiler to mandatory compliance while reducing your carbon footprint.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this new law or the switch to biofuels, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to help you every step of the way.
